Vegetable Bean Soup

I love it when I come across a recipe that is truly from the foods that I have stored and tastes great.  The best part about this recipe is that you can tailor it straight to the likes and dis-likes of your family.  We love kidney beans so I always add kidney beans.  I also like to add a little chicken stock.

Experiment a little yourself, make sure to add the foods you like best.  Have fun and make sure to let us know what you do.

Vegetable Bean Soup
  • 1 Qt. pinto beans
  • 1 Qt water
  • 1 lb. browned hamburger
  • 1 cup cubed potatoes
  • ½ cup onion
  • 1 Qt drained tomatoes
  • 3 tsp beef bouillon
  • 2 cups sliced carrots
  • 1 cup cooked rice or barley
  • ¼ tsp marjoram and thyme
  1. Mix all ingredients together and cook until carrots and potatoes are soft.
